Croatia – Hebrang’s sin In his book Wartime, published in New York in 1977, Milovan Djilas (Ðilas) wrote that the annexation of Istria, Zadar and the Dalmatian islands, which had been under Italy, to the motherland Croatia was the beginning of Hebrang’s end. He maintained that deprived Yugoslavia of the sovereignty only it was entitled to. Djilas actively promoted this stance even after 1948.
